One of the biggest stumbling blocks when it comes to redesigning a room is not space management, or getting caught up in the small details of what goes where.

Each aspect of the re-design should be proporly thought out and considered on a stage by stage basis. Keep an open mind and an open budget for any unforseen circumstances that you may have to deal with, especilly when knocking down any walls to create bigger spaces. Just eep in mind it’s far easier and cheaper to solve a problem when its theoretical than when it actually happens so forward thinking and good planning are a must.

With most projects there are numerous things that can go completely wrong, where possible hire an experienced designer as they will be able to rectify any mistakes and mishaps without compromising the over all look and feel you want to achieve. Design fees can be expensive but if you’re spending a fair amount of money over a big proportion of your house then a designer will save you considerable money in the long run by planning and avoiding these mishaps.

Finishings and furniture are a good way to add some style, accessories like floor lamps, touch lamp and coffee tables are all pieces that can add a sense of you to a room. The key here is to keep to a set theme of the room and don’t have conflicting styles as this will take away from the essence of the room.
